About the UMMSA

The importance of the the University of Manitoba Muslim Students' Association (UMMSA)

UMMSA is more than just a student association; it serves as a dynamic hub for Muslim students, offering a welcoming space for spiritual and personal development. Our mosque plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and connection among Muslim students, often being the place where many form lasting friendships.

We collaborate with various Islamic organizations to bring renowned scholars to speak on diverse topics, catering to both Muslim and non-Muslim students. Through a variety of events, programs, and services, UMMSA aims to promote Islamic values, represent Muslim students on campus, and address the diverse needs of its members.

We aim to address the unique challenges faced by Muslim students both academically and personally through various initiatives.

The University of Manitoba Muslim Students' Association (UMMSA), established in 1971, has been serving the Muslim community ever since.
We are dedicated to fostering a safe space for students to practice their faith while engaging with the broader community.

What are the prayer times at the mosque?

Prayer times are updated regularly on our website and social media platforms as well as being displayed on the TVs in the Mosque.

How can I get involved in MSA activities?

You can follow our social media to stay updated on events we host, additionally, you can join our volunteer group to start getting involved with MSA work

Is the masjid open to non-Muslims?

Yes, our masjid welcomes people of all faiths for educational purposes and community events.

How can I support MSA financially?

You can donate through our website or participate in fundraising initiatives organized by the MSA, such as our Friday sales.

Does the MSA facilitate Jumu’ah prayers?

Yes, the MSA facilitates 3 Jumu’ah times every Friday at the university masjid. Jumu’ah times are always posted a day in advance on our social media’s.
