UMMSA Recognized at the Manitoba Legislature

We’re honored to share that the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA) was recently invited to the Manitoba Legislature for a special recognition of the contributions our member, past and present, have made over the years.

This meaningful moment was made possible thanks to MLA Jennifer Chen, whose support and recognition uplifted not only our current members, but the many alumni and volunteers who have shaped the MSA into what it is today.

Being present in that space, in such an official setting, was deeply emotional. It’s a moment that would have been difficult to imagine just a few years ago, a time when Muslim voices and identities were far less visible in civic spaces. To now be recognized for our efforts to create a spiritual community, support students during Ramadan, and build understanding across cultures is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come.

This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of this journey. From the early days of organizing prayer spaces and events, to the countless hours spent volunteering, educating, and simply showing up—this is a shared achievement.

Thank you to all those who continue to make MSA a welcoming, resilient, and vibrant community.
